The Scotts Valley Water District is required to adopt an Urban Water Management Plan very five years in compliance with requirements of the California Urban Water Management Planning Act and the California Water Code. The 2020 Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) updates the 2015 UWMP and provides a detailed summary of present and future water supplies and demands within the District’s service area and assesses its ongoing water resource needs. Specifically, it provides long term water supply planning and establishes management measures to ensure adequate water supplies are available to meet existing and future demands .
New for 2020 is the requirement to prepare a Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP). The WSCP included as Chapter 13 in the 2020 UWMP is a detailed plan that will provide guidance to the District's Board of Directors, staff, and the public by identifying anticipated water shortages and response actions to allow for efficient management of any water shortage with predictability and accountability.
