NOW ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR 2011 WATER CONSERVATION AWARDS

WHAT
Scotts Valley Water District Water Conservation Awards recognize businesses and homeowners who show a commitment to conserving water in our community. Award recipients receive a $100 gift certificate to a plumbing and/or irrigation supply store of their choice and are announced to the public.  

WHO
Nominees must be customers of Scotts Valley Water District. Customers can nominate and be nominated by other customers of Scotts Valley Water District. Employees of SVWD as well as other local government agencies my also nominate customers and be nominated themselves as long as they themselves are customers of the District.  

WHEN
Nominations must be received by April 30th during the award year. Awards consideration occurs annually during spring in honor of May as Water Awareness Month. Applications for Water Conservation Award nominations are available throughout the entire year at the District office and also at www.svwd.org. Award recipients will be chosen at the Water Resources Committee meeting immediately preceding the May Board Meeting. The recipients will be notified and invited to attend the May Board Meeting where they will be presented with a yard sign and gift certificate. Award recipients will also be announced in a press release and featured on the SVWD website.  

WHY
Encouraging community participation is a fun and effective way to expand involvement in water conservation practices. During times of increased water restrictions it is important to recognize customers who are going above and beyond to save water. These customers then in turn become an example for other members of the community.
